I believe style allows me the visual voice to express my authentic self. What is the story that you want to tell the world? How do you want to feel?  Like a painter with her brush, I use color, texture, and silhouette to build my vision from the ground up. 

Sometimes, by changing something externally, we pave the way to change internally as well. I was taught that clothes are more than clothes. They are an anthropological snapshot of reality as we have chosen to create it. Emotion, time, gender, age, and class are seemingly fixed signifiers that become suddenly subjective, disguisable, and transformative. And a character is born. 

I have over 8 years of professional experience in the costume department for film and t.v., as a proud member of Union 769. I’ve had the pleasure of collaboration with esteemed brands such as: NBCUniversal, Fox, AppleTV, FX, Jim Beam, Disney, and Havas. Proficient in flat patterning, draping and sewing, I also hold a BFA in Fashion Design from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In the past year I have been taking metal smithing classes as I build my brand Artemis James, and am now a member of Benches on Division Metal Smithing Studio. In 2023 I started Design to Development Consultation under Artemis James Studio and welcome you to reach out so that I may help you realize your dream designs!
